One Piece Gets An RPG With A New Story From Series Creator Eiichiro Oda

New video game based on One Piece is in the works. During the course of a video presentation In honor of One Piece’s 25th anniversary, Bandai Namco has announced a new RPG based on the popular manga/anime series, with an original plot created by series creator Eiichiro Oda.

 

One Piece Odyssey is a new open-world game in which the Straw Hats must search for treasures on a mystery island. ILCA, a Japanese studio that recently worked on the Pokemon Brilliant Diamond / Shining Pearl remakes, as well as Dragon Quest XII and Kidney Replicant, is developing the game. While the introduction trailer didn’t reveal much other than cutscenes and exploration, we do know that the game will feature turn-based combat and that players will have access to the Thousand Sunny’s crew as well as a fresh new character.

A section is getting a live-action adaptation from Netflix, in addition to a new game. The majority of the cast has been revealed, with Iaki Godoy set to play Monkey D. Luffy, the captain of the Straw Hats.

“I remembered – wasn’t it three years ago when I created the characters?” Hahaha! However, when I saw the game in person… Wow! It was as though I were seeing a MOVIE!!! What a fantastic immersion.”

In 2022, One Piece Odyssey will be released on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC.
