CES 2023: LG to Unveil New Foldable OLED Displays

The Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2023 will be held in Las Vegas from January 5 to January 8. LG has stated that it will reveal new OLED technologies at the annual global technology event. Under the theme ‘Always On,’ LG stated that its display technologies will make people’s lives more joyful. Its display division has also stated that it will launch its Order-to-Order business, which will provide small-to-medium-sized OLED and automotive display solutions, including foldable OLED panels.

LG teased the release of a 17-inch foldable OLED panel, which could be comparable in use case to the ASUS Zenbook 17 Fold OLED. LG’s foldable OLED display can be used as a 17-inch tablet or folded in half to create a laptop-like arrangement. According to the business, its foldable display is crease-free at the moment of folding. It also includes touch and smart stylus capability.

The business has revealed that it will introduce a tiny 8-inch 360-degree foldable OLED that can fold both directions. Users can fold the screen and select multiple form factors according on their task thanks to the 360-degree folding mechanism. LG claims that the 360-degree foldable display has been tested over 200,000 times to withstand the folding and unfolding mechanism.

It will also show off car displays with key patented technologies including P-OLED and Low-Temperature Polycrystalline Silicon (LTPS) LCD. One such display technology is the 34-inch P-OLED display, which the business claims is the world’s largest automotive P-OLED. It boasts an ergonomic design that is intended to give the driver a good view of the dashboard and navigation system.

LG is also planning to release an LTPS LCD-based Head-Up Display (HUD) with a peak brightness of 5,000 nits. In addition, the business has confirmed the release of its new OLED TV portfolio, which comprises the LG Z3, G3, and C3 OLED smart TVs under the evo series.
