Google I/O 2023 kicks up tonight, and the company’s annual developer conference will be streamed live for the first time this year. While Google I/O 2023 is traditionally used to reveal the next version of its Android operating system, as well as updates to the company’s mobile apps and application development tools, we can also expect the search giant to launch and introduce new hardware. According to teasers given by the business, these include a new inexpensive Pixel smartphone to succeed last year’s Pixel 6a, as well as the company’s first foldable mobile.

The concert will be broadcast live from the Shoreline Amphitheatre in Mountain View, California. Unlike the main keynote, which is open to everybody, you must register in advance to attend the developer keynote and subsequent developer-focused workshops.

What to expect from Google I/O 2023

Google unveiled the latest version of its Android and Wear OS operating systems, as well as improvements to Google Translate and other apps, last year. It also debuted the Pixel 6a and teased the Pixel 7 series of smartphones, which were released a few months later. We may expect the corporation to continue on its current path this year.

Android 14 and Wear OS updates

Google and device manufacturers unveiled Android 14 Beta 1 last month, and the next version of Android is expected to arrive on smartphones later this year. However, we still don’t know what new features or advancements Android 14 will bring to the table. The March developer preview of Android 14 introduced new privacy features and passkey support. During the speech, Google is also expected to reveal the next version of Wear OS.

Pixel 7a

Google’s next midrange Pixel 7a smartphone will be unveiled tonight at the Google I/O event as a replacement to the Pixel 6a. The phone is believed to have numerous improvements over last year’s model, including the company’s second-generation Tensor G2 CPU, a better display with a higher refresh rate, better cameras, and wireless charging capability. According to the business, it will be available in India on Thursday and will be offered through Flipkart.

Pixel Fold and Pixel Tablet

Google has already hinted at the release of its first foldable phone, which may compete with market leader Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold 4 device. However, the business has yet to divulge the folding phone’s characteristics as well as the regions in which it will be offered. Google previously stated that the first Pixel-branded tablet would be released in 2023, and the firm could finally reveal the device during the Google I/O conference.

Google software

Faced with stiff competition from Microsoft-backed OpenAI, Google is hard at work on Bard, their AI-powered chatbot. The corporation may unveil the integration of AI technologies into its search service, which will compete with Microsoft’s updated Bing, as well as some of its mobile apps. Google I/O 2023 might see the company introduce new features and integrations for its applications, similar to last year’s improvements to Google Translate and the Google Wallet apps.
