According to developer Alessandro Paluzzi on X (previously Twitter), Meta’s in-development edit button for Threads may allow you to change posts within five minutes after publishing them. Instagram CEO Adam Mosseri acknowledged immediately after the app’s July launch that an edit button was on the list of potential improvements, and now that Paluzzi has unearthed some facts about it, the tool may become more generally available in the near future.

One of the things I think Threads is missing the most is an edit button, so I’m glad to see this sliver of proof that Meta is getting closer to providing it. When I asked for details regarding potential time, Meta didn’t immediately respond, but I’m hopeful that we’ll see the edit button sooner rather than later. Meta has knocked out low-hanging fruit like a following feed, a web client, and the ability to search for posts in the few months since the app’s launch. As Mosseri revealed on Thursday, Meta is also giving out the ability to switch between Threads profiles on mobile by long-pressing the profile tab. (It’s been a big day for profile news.)
