Oppo has promoted the entire Reno series as a “real creator’s companion” throughout their advertising. So when I had the opportunity to review the brand’s most recent smartphone, the Oppo Reno 8T 5G, I couldn’t help but be interested in it. I’m someone who enjoys contributing to online communities and sharing my work with a wide audience, so I was excited to try out all of the things that this phone has to offer.

After using the phone for more than a week, I can say that Oppo’s newest product has a little bit of everything for a wide spectrum of audiences, not only content creators. This is because the phone includes a dual camera system that can record 4K video. You can play games, multitask, take photos, watch your favorite over-the-top (OTT) shows and movies, stream content from the phone and do a lot more.

Oppo Reno 8T 5G Review and Full Phone Specifications

Design

The design of the OPPO Reno 8T 5G is its primary selling feature; unfortunately, the gadget has a plastic frame, so it neither feels nor appears to be of premium quality from any aspect.

On the back, OPPO used glass, which looks great; in addition to that, the glass has a matt surface, which brings the design and finishes to a new level.

Due to the low weight of the gadget (171 grams), even continuous usage of a smartphone for two to three hours would not cause significant discomfort to the user’s finger or wrist.

In light of this, there is no question that the OPPO Reno 8T has the best design available for less than Rs 30,000 in India. In addition to this, the curved 120hz AMOLED display elevates the design to an all-new level.

Display

Oppo Reno 8T 5G Review

The display on the OPPO Reno 8T 5G is a 6.70-inch curved AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate. It has a resolution of 1080 x 2412 pixels and can be adjusted to 950 nits of brightness. In addition, OPPO has included an in-display fingerprint sensor, which performs as expected.

The display is of good quality, but you should exercise extreme caution while working with this type of display because the lovely curved AMOLED panel can be easily damaged if the device is dropped from even a moderate height, such as from a sofa or chair.

Therefore, it is true that the curved display has a nice appearance; nevertheless, you need to exercise caution when using the smartphone because if you do not, it will be very expensive to get a new AMOLED screen.

We have seen a similar design with RealMe 10 Pro Plus 5G, and personally, I’m not a great lover of the curved display; I much like the flat panel instead.

In addition, the brightness of the 950 picks is strong enough to make it possible to use the smartphone outside.

The OPPO Reno 8T 5G features a display that, when taken as a whole, helps the smartphone live up to its price tag of Rs 29,999.

Performance

We offer the iQOO Z6 Lite 5G, which is powered by a Snapdragon 695 processor and has a price tag of Rs 14,999.

Now we have the same chipset in the newly announced OPPO Reno 8T 5G, but the catch is, this is priced at Rs 29,999, which is twice as much as the price of the iQOO Z6 Lite 5G.

To put it plainly, the Qualcomm Snapdragon 695 is not a powerful processor; hence, you should steer clear of the OPPO Reno 8T 5G if you are interested in purchasing a gaming smartphone for less than Rs 30,000.

The chip is capable of handling a little amount of gaming, but if you play games continuously for thirty to sixty minutes, the phone will get hot, and you will notice that the frame rate will fluctuate here and there.

OPPO has also added 13 5G bands which includes n1, n3, n5, n7, n8, n20, n28, n38, n40, n41, n66, n77, and n78.

The operating system of the phone is ColorOS 13, which is based on Android 13. As of right now, there is no indication of the number of operating system updates that the phone will receive; hence, it is impossible to speculate regarding future updates.

You will also see advertisements within the standard OPPO applications; these advertisements can be disabled, but by default, you will see advertisements alongside a large amount of unnecessary software.

Even after you’ve paid 30,000 won, OPPO will still show you advertisements, which is not a pleasant way to utilize their product.

When considering everything, including price and performance, the OPPO Reno 8T 5G is not worthy of its price tag of 30,000 Indian Rupees. As a result, this is not the best option for gaming or heavy usage; however, for normal usage, such as calling or using social media, this could be a good option to consider.

Cameras

Oppo Reno 8T 5G Cameras

The cameras on the OPPO Reno 8T 5G give off the impression that they are quite capable, but our tests showed that this is not the case.

The primary camera on the device has 108 megapixels, while the macro and depth sensors each have 2 megapixels, and the front-facing camera has 32 megapixels. Only 1080p video at 30 frames per second may be captured by either the rear or front camera.

First things first, let’s get rid of the 2MP+2MP sensors because they were only included for the sake of design and appearance. Let’s go back to the 108-megapixel sensor. In passing, I should mention that the device does not have support for OIS; rather, everything is dependent on EIS.

When it comes to photography in low light, the sensor adds a touch of softness, although this is typical of OPPO cameras. The colors come out really rich.

In a nutshell, these are cameras that are optimized for social media; you do not need to alter the photographs before sharing them; simply take a picture, and then send it directly to Instagram.

Personally, I don’t like photos that are unnatural; I much prefer photos that look natural. However, I think that the majority of OPPO fans will really enjoy the Reno 8T 5G because it has everything that they needed in a photography phone.

OPPO has also included a specialized night mode, which functions faultlessly and causes no problems whatsoever; however, it does result in an increase in the amount of background noise. The explanation for this is quite straightforward: the sensor works to overexpose the foreground portion of the image.

Again, there is no OIS, so the films won’t come out stable. This means that technically, you can choose movies, but they won’t be very useful if you take them when you’re walking because they won’t be as steady. Regarding the selfie shooter with 32 megapixels,

This one again is a social media-ready sensor, and it possesses OPPO’s own magic. Simply taking a picture will give you the image you want; there will be no need for any editing.
What else can I say about the front camera on the OPPO other than the fact that it is the best selfie camera you can get for less than 30,000 rupees?

The OPPO Reno 8T 5G does not have the best cameras under 30,000 rupees, nor does it justify the 30,000 rupee price tag. The cameras are good for those who wanted to only buy an OPPO smartphone, but for those who want a device that offers the best value for their money, this isn’t the best option to consider.

Audio

Unfortunately, OPPO has not included a 3.5mm audio jack on the Reno 8T 5G, but the speakers that it has included are stereo and produce an excellent sound.

It also supports 4 x 4 MIMO Carrier Aggregation, which, if the phone is having trouble connecting to a reliable network, will be of great assistance thanks to this feature.

To summarize, there is no need to be concerned about the phone’s audio quality because it possesses some of the best speakers available for less than 30,000 rupees and performs admirably.

Battery Life

The OPPO Reno 8T 5G has a battery capacity of 4,800 mAh and supports 67W rapid charging. The charging accessory has been included in the package, so there is no need to go out and get it separately.

The 67W charger will take around 44 minutes to charge the battery from 0% to 100%. Additionally, you will need the same 67W charger in order to take use of the fast charging feature; without it, you won’t be able to charge the battery as quickly.

You may anticipate that the battery would last for a day because the Snapdragon 695 is a power-efficient processor; nevertheless, if you are an extremely heavy user, you will need to charge the OPPO X 8T 5G twice a day.

Verdict

The Oppo Reno 8T is an incremental improvement over the Oppo Reno 8, and its addition to the lineup offers value. The advantages of this phone include a curved display that comes out of the box with Android 13, great camera specifications, and an economical battery.

Therefore, if you are seeking a gadget that is both aesthetically pleasing and able to perform adequately across a variety of important categories, this is the one for you.

You should take a look at The Redmi Note 12 Pro Plus, on the other hand, if you are willing to make some design concessions in exchange for a more robust camera configuration. You also have the option of going with the Nothing Phone (1), which has a one-of-a-kind design and a camera experience that is respectable enough to warrant an investment.
