New Foldable Phone Xiaomi Mix Fold 2 to Be Launched August 11

Xiaomi Mix Fold 2 release date is August 11 and this smartphone is the latest foldable model.

According to media reports, Ice Universe has made a suggestion regarding this leak. This comes as a bit of a surprise because Xiaomi typically teases new launches weeks in advance. The Xiaomi CEO, Lei Jun, will present his third annual lecture on August 11, so the timing is definitely not a coincidence.

However, a screenshot purportedly taken from the Mix Fold 2 was discovered by Lao Wei, Xiaomi’s mobile product manager, and shared by a number of leakers, including Ice and Digital Chat Station.

The smartphone’s 1080 x 2520px resolution validates the cover display’s rumored 21:9 aspect ratio. According to GSM Arena, the cover display on the original Mi Mix Fold featured a slender 27:9 ratio.

Additionally, that panel had a refresh rate of 90Hz, whereas the new one, according to rumors, will go up to 120Hz. This should result in a 10.3:9 aspect ratio for the internal display as opposed to the 4:3 of the previous model.

The Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 with 12GB of RAM and 512GB or 1TB of storage will power the Xiaomi Mix Fold 2.

Similar to the original, it will allow 56W rapid charging. This may not be the only new phone on Thursday as GSM Arena reports that there have been leaks of the Xiaomi K50S Pro (Review), the company’s first device with a 200MP camera.

Mix Fold 2 Specifications leaked

In a post about the phone on Weibo, Xiaomi says that this is the phone that will make foldable phones useful, but it doesn’t say anything about its specs. The picture doesn’t show much besides the fact that the phone can be folded and that Xiaomi is working with Leica to make it better.

The phone that came before this one, the Xiaomi Mi Mix Fold from 2021, had an 8.01-inch folding screen and a 6.52-inch, 27:9-ratio outer screen. There are rumors that the Mi Fold 2 will have a 21:9 display on the outside.

The original Mix Fold had a top Snapdragon processor, a 108-megapixel camera, and 12GB or 16GB of RAM, so it seems likely that the Mix Fold 2 will have similar specs.

On August 11, Samsung is also releasing its new Galaxy Z Flip (Review) and Galaxy Z Fold devices, while Motorola will do the same with its foldable Razr 2022. That means at least four new foldable smartphones will be released within the next two days, however, initially, only Samsung’s new models will be available worldwide.
