On Tuesday, a book co-written by Albert Einstein on his Theory of Relativity sold for 11.7 million euros (about $13 million). According to the Xinhua news agency, Christie’s in Paris sold the manuscript to an unnamed buyer.

The 54-page working draught, co-written by Einstein and Michele Besso between June 1913 and early 1914, was a significant milestone in the creation of the General Theory of Relativity, according to Christie’s website.

Christie’s stated that it is one of just two surviving papers describing the theory’s genesis and provides a fascinating look into the scientist’s thought. The text was originally valued at between 2.4 million and 3.5 million dollars by the auction company.

In Shanghai, China, an exhibition commemorating the 140th anniversary of Einstein’s birth was presented in 2019. The famous equation E=MC2 (squared) and handwritten pages of the General Theory of Relativity were shown.
