According to reports, WhatsApp is introducing new privacy features to make it more difficult for others to discover your last seen status and online presence on the network. The update may not be available to all users yet, but it is claimed to be available to select Android and iOS users. It will keep your information private and prevent third-party apps from tracking WhatsApp users. Aside from the privacy-focused update, WhatsApp has released a new animated sticker set called Encanto, which can be downloaded from the app’s official WhatsApp Sticker Store.

WhatsApp is focusing on increasing user privacy by blocking your last seen and online status update from people you don’t know or haven’t interacted with, according to WhatsApp features tracker WABetaInfo. Some users were the first to discover the change. WhatsApp Support also appears to have confirmed the privacy enhancement’s implementation.

The update will not affect your relationships with friends, family, or business contacts whom you know or have already messaged, according to the support team in an apparent email answer to a user.

WhatsApp has been contacted by Gadgets 360 for comments on the new restrictions. When the company responds, this report will be updated.

Apps and services that allowed users to silently track others on WhatsApp were uncovered earlier this year, according to a report by cybersecurity firm Traced. The messaging app does not allow you to disable or update your online status, but it does allow you to hide your Last Seen status from strangers.

Many WhatsApp online status trackers, according to Traced, promoted themselves as a way to let individuals know when their contacts are online on the app, even if they may be used by cyber-stalkers to spy on others.

Cyberstalking apps are not allowed in in-app shops like Google Play. However, there are other apps offered in these shops that claim to provide a way for parents and partners to keep track of their loved ones’ WhatsApp activity.

Along with the privacy-focused feature, WhatsApp has released the Encanto sticker collection, which can be downloaded on both Android and iOS devices. It comes with 14 animated stickers that may be used in chats. WABetaInfo was the first to notice the pack.
