Xiaomi is another company that wants to change the future with humanoid worker Xiaomi robots. They just showed the world a prototype that looks pretty cool. The company’s first product from its Robotics Lab, the CyberDog, came out last year. It’s also pretty cool and we got to see it in action. But this is a big step in the process, and it has been shown that the brand is getting closer to putting this prototype into production.
The official name of the robot is CyberOne. He looks like a person and is 177 centimeters tall, which is taller than the average Mexican. He weighs 52 kilos, which is surprisingly light for his size. It doesn’t look as scary as some designs we’ve seen before, like Elon Musk‘s, though he’s not wearing anything on his face right now. As for a nickname, he has been called “Metal Bro,” which sounds better. For some reason, he has also been given the zodiac sign Leo, which is based on the date he was “born.”
Nothing could have gone better with the presentation. The robot was shown on stage and gave Xiaomi CEO Lei Jun a flower before agreeing to take a selfie with a person. After that, he had no trouble leaving the stage. This might not seem like much, but in the robotics industry, it’s an important step although it does not compare to the jewels of Boston Dynamics.
From what has been said, it sounds like the robot can see the world in three dimensions and listen with two hearing aids to recognize a wide range of sounds and human emotions. It has 13 joints and 21 degrees of “freedom,” which means it can move in many different ways.
How much are they going to cost?
Lei says that the CyberOne or Metal Bros will cost between 600,000 and 700,000 yuan, which is about 2 million pesos. This could make it hard to get it into mass production soon.
The prototype is more of a way to show what the company can do with technology, and new parts will continue to be added. It might never go on sale, but it will still be a very important project in case it becomes easier to make a lot of them.
