Users of Google Photos will soon have access to a variety of creative tools, such as an integrated collage editor and a redesigned Memories feature with new dramatic visual effects and music support. The modifications were disclosed by the corporation earlier this week. Users will be able to access it as part of a broader upgrade to the 2019-debuting Google Photos feature Memories. The search engine behemoth also disclosed that more than 3.5 million people now view the Memories feature each month.

In a blog post, the firm revealed that it was updating its Memories function, which allows users to explore their timeline of earlier images in a cinematic audio-visual manner, much like Instagram and Facebook’s Stories and Memories features. The greatest snippets will now be automatically chosen and edited in Google Photos’ Memories thanks to machine learning, the company claims.

Also, Google claims that the new iteration of its Memories function will start playing instrumental music. In the meantime, the service’s “Cinematic Photos” visual effect function will merge numerous generated 3D models of still photos with background music.

According to Google, the still photos in Memories will also seem more immersive to viewers thanks to automatic, modest zooming video effects.

Additionally, Google Photos is expanding its support for the built-in Styles collage editor, which allows users to create collages using a grid arrangement and even add a background. The business claims that the Styles function was inspired by ancient scrapbooks, where memories would automatically be embellished with graphic art in an effort to make them stand out.

Users will be able to quickly share Memories, but according to the firm, the service is currently only available on Android and will soon be available on iOS and the Web.

Additionally, Google One customers and Pixel phone owners will get access to more than 30 additional designs and extra editing tools like Portrait Light or HDR for their collages. Shantell Martin and Lisa Congdon, two featured performers, will debut special styles at the event.

The corporation affirmed that users would still have discretion over whether or not certain people’s or historical periods’ images appeared in Memories. Google has stated that the most recent version will be gradually phased out to users.
