Motorola Moto Edge 30 Ultra Review: Features, Specifications, and Price

Spread the love

Motorola Mobility, a subsidiary of Lenovo, develops the Motorola Moto brand of Android mobile devices. The Motorola Edge series is aimed at the mid-to-high-end phone market. With its Ultra edition, Motorola takes this series further and places it in the high-end category. The Motorola Moto Edge 30 Ultra is the series’ most recent flagship phone.

The Moto Edge 30 Ultra is thought to be a rebranded version of the X30 Pro, which was released in China on July 30, 2022. The Edge 30 Ultra phone was renamed and released on September 8, 2022, in India, Europe, and the United Kingdom. Let’s go over this phone’s basic specs, advantages, and disadvantages.

Motorola Moto Edge 30 Ultra with Key Specifications

Design

In comparison to the previous Edge 30 phones announced at the beginning of the year, the new Edge 30 Ultra takes a completely different approach to smartphone design. This new premium equipment appears to be considerably more “edgy.”

The Edge 30 Ultra’s display is significantly curved, similar to the screens seen on the original Motorola Edge phones. As a result, the gadget may boast the smallest display bezels yet seen on a Motorola phone.

The fingerprint sensor is built into the display and works flawlessly. A speaker that also functions as an earpiece is located above the punch-hole camera, making it a 2-in-1 device. This speaker has a rather long and narrow cutout.

Motorola’s most recent design language can be found on the back of the Edge 30 Ultra, as well as the Neo and Fusion Edge 30 phones. The Edge 30 Ultra features this design language. This implies that the camera module is square in shape, with rounded sides, and that it includes a dual-LED flashlight as well as three camera sensors.

Display

The display, like the design, ticks off many relevant boxes. Its foundation is a big 6.67-inch OLED display. It features a fullHD+ resolution, which is relatively standard; nevertheless, it boasts refresh rates of up to 144Hz, which offers you incredibly fluid and clear images in areas of the interface that support it, as well as in games and programs that support it.

In addition to HDR10+ compatibility, it supports 10-bit color, which corresponds to over 1 billion different colors. That indicates the display has a high level of contrast, details, sharpness, and dynamic motion.

It does, however, have exceptionally small bezels, an effect that is amplified further by the aforementioned curves in the glass and the fact that there is nothing that prevents the view of that screen thanks to the tiny hole-punch cutout for the selfie camera.

In terms of software, it runs on Moto’s version of Android 12, which is nearly identical to the version found in Google’s Pixel phones. It is very similar to the “stock” version of Android, with a few changes made by Motorola here and there

Cameras

The Moto Edge 30 Ultra breaks previous records for the number of megapixels registered on its sensors. The 200-megapixel Samsung ISOCELL HP1 sensor with f/1.9 width, 1/1.22-inch, and 0.64m is in charge of photographing subjects.

A 50-megapixel Samsung GN5 ultra-wide sensor with an f/2.2 aperture, 114 ultrawide field-of-view, 1/2.76-inch, and 0.64m is also included.

What’s more, The Moto Edge 30 Ultra’s rear camera series comprises a 12-megapixel Sony depth camera with 2x zoom capability. It sports a 1.22m lens and an f/1.6 aperture.

Front Camera Collection
Then there’s the front-facing selfie camera, which has a resolution of 60 megapixels and, like the rear camera, uses quad-pixel binning for the default shots. The sensor has an f/2.2 aperture, a 1/2.8-inch lens, and a thickness of 0.61m.

The camera catches appropriate skin tones while exaggerating the sensation of sharpness just little. The overall image is appealing, and if you go into the camera’s menus, you can find the UHD mode, which allows you to shoot photos with a lot more detail.

Capacity for Video Shooting
The Moto Edge 30 Ultra’s back camera can capture up to 8K footage at 30 frames per second and 4K films at 60 or 30 frames per second. It can also record 1080p video at up to 960 frames per second for slow motion.

The front camera can record 4K video at 30 frames per second or 1080p video at 30 frames per second.

Performance

The Qualcomm Snapdragon SM8475 8+ Gen 1 system-on-chip powers the Moto Edge 30 Ultra, making it one of the most powerful smartphones available today. It easily breezes through the normal battery of benchmarking tests. The CPU is paired with the Adreno 730 GPU.

However, there are a few areas that may be improved, particularly when the smartphone is subjected to long-term challenges. When the Edge 30 Ultra is subjected to the CPU Throttle test, it performs at 69% of its maximum capability. This is demonstrated by a stability score of 67.1 percent achieved from 3DMark’s Extreme Wild Life Stress test.

Even while the phone does not get extremely hot when running these benchmarks, it appears that some of the performance is being throttled to keep the phone from overheating.

Edge 30 Ultra comes in a variety of configurations, including 128GB ROM by 8GB RAM, 256GB ROM by 8GB RAM, 256GB ROM by 12GB RAM, and 512GB ROM by 12GB RAM. UFS 3.1 data transfer technology is supported by storage.

Battery and Charger

The Moto Edge 30 Ultra has a 4,600 mAh battery and is paired with a quick charger with a power output of 120 watts. The smartphone also supports 50W fast wireless charging and 10W reverse wireless charging.

The Qualcomm Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 CPU is known for being power-efficient. When combined with Motorola’s rather clean software, there should be no difficulties with the device’s battery life.

Conclusion

In terms of flagship smartphones, the Moto Edge 30 Ultra meets all of the right expectations. It boasts a strong CPU, plenty of RAM and storage space, a high-resolution HDR10+ display, and a camera system that appears to be pretty capable. It is unclear whether this will result in a first-rate experience.

The device’s performance levels meet or surpass expectations, and the streamlined software enhances the whole experience. The only issues include some throttling that may be noticeable when applying sustained loads, as well as overexposure in low-light photos.

Overall, the Motorola Edge 30 Ultra is an excellent phone that combines a stylish design with enough technology.
