Xiaomi Redmi 11 Prime Review: Features, Full Phone Specifications, and Price

Since its start, Xiaomi’s sub-brand Redmi has focused on value-added devices. While the Mi series concentrates on mid-range to flagship devices, the Redmi line focuses on affordable to mid-range devices. Redmi’s current 11 series includes smartphones ranging from entry-level to mid-range. On September 6, 2022, Xiaomi Redmi 11 Prime was released in India. This low-cost phone strives to provide users with exceptional value for money. Let’s take a closer look at the Xiaomi Redmi 11 Prime’s essential specifications, advantages, and disadvantages.

Xiaomi Redmi 11 Prime Key Specifications

Design

The Xiaomi Redmi 11 Prime’s design isn’t particularly evocative of earlier models. Redmi has always experimented with design components, and users are treated to a new design tone nearly every year. The Xiaomi Redmi 11 Prime is no exception this year, with its rectangular camera housing and diamond-textured rear.

The Xiaomi Redmi 11 Prime’s body is entirely comprised of plastic. Given Redmi’s budget and previous material choices, this came as no surprise. The Gorilla Glass 3 on the front, on the other hand, surprised me. This is undoubtedly something that will give Xiaomi Redmi 11 Prime an advantage over its competition.

All of the standard connectors and buttons are present. The power buttons, unsurprisingly, double as the fingerprint sensor, and the 3.5 mm headphone port remains on the device. The Xiaomi Redmi lacks a stereo speaker, but the bottom-firing speaker is quite powerful and sharp.

The device’s entry-level model only has a 64 GB ROM option. However, there is a second microSDXC slot to compensate for the lack of onboard storage.

The Xiaomi Redmi 11 Prime comes in three colors: bright green, colorful black, and bright purple. The colors are just as vivid as their names. Overall, the Xiaomi Redmi 11 Prime does not reinvent the wheel. Instead, it improves the current props to provide a more cost-effective device in terms of design and construction.

Display

The Xiaomi Redmi 11 Prime’s 6.58-inch display is an IPS LCD with a refresh rate of 90 Hz. The 90 Hz refresh rate isn’t actually configurable because Redmi optimizes this feature based on the user level. It’s more akin to a dynamic refresh rate that changes based on how the user interacts with the device.

The panel also has a brightness of 400 nits. While this isn’t technically particularly bright, outdoor legibility is adequate. However, the 240Hz display appears considerably better indoors than it does outside.

In terms of quality, it’s a solid 1080P screen with a high pixel density. In typical Redmi fashion, the colors are sharp and warm. Viewing angles are also excellent. Xiaomi has done an excellent job with a 1080P LCD display.

The ultra-low-cost device market is already saturated. But it’s no surprise that the Xiaomi Redmi 11 Prime has one of the most excellent panels of the bunch.

Cameras

The camera section is equipped with three sensors. The primary sensor is 50 MP, with two supplementary depth and macro sensors of 2 MP each. The two additional sensors are primarily for show and the “triple camera” term, as is typical of budget marketing. Almost all tasks will clearly fall on the main 50 MP sensor.

As it stands, the Xiaomi Redmi 11 Prime’s main lens is extremely capable. Outdoor images came out sharp with a detailed dynamic range. Portraits look amazing as well, with near-perfect edge detection. The images may appear warmer, however, this is due to Redmi’s post-processing.

The Xiaomi Redmi can take good pictures both indoors and under artificial lighting. Xiaomi Redmi adjusts the aperture and shutter speed based on the lighting conditions. Even in low-light situations, the outcome is a well-exposed image. Despite being an entry-level phone, the images can easily compete with many mid-range devices.

The main sensor does not have any additional features such as EIS or OIS. As a result, the Xiaomi Redmi11 Prime’s videography is limited to 1080P at 30 fps. The PDAF performs a fair job of stabilizing. However, it is not at the level of an EIS.

The front-facing camera has an 8 MP resolution for selfies. It captures details well, but a broader sensor would have been preferable.

Processor and Performance

The processor is most likely the Xiaomi Redmi 11 Prime’s most appealing feature. The Xiaomi Redmi 11 Prime sports a 6 Nm CPU, however, most inexpensive handsets have a 12 Nm architecture processor. The MediaTek Helio G99 CPU is an octa-core 2 2.2 GHz Cortex-A76 and 6 2.0 GHz Cortex-A55 architecture.

This is a game changer because this CPU is not accessible at this price point. A 12 Nm CPU just cannot compete with the greater efficiency and optimization provided by the 6 Nm architecture. Furthermore, MediaTek introduced HyperEngine 2.0, which includes extra optimization for gaming and processor-intensive workloads.

The end result? Regardless of the work, the experience is buttery smooth. You can easily game at high settings but at the expense of increased warmth and battery consumption. Day-to-day duties are completed without incident or heating.

To summarize, the CPU significantly improves the performance of budget sector devices and has undoubtedly ushered in a new era of performance at the entry-level price segment.

Final Words

Xiaomi Redmi 11 Prime differs from earlier models in subtle ways. The majority of these improvements are internal as Redmi strives to fulfill the 2022 criteria. During this process, the business added an amazing processor and display that easily outperforms any competitor in this price range.

The camera department, on the other hand, could have done better, notably in the videography portion. Apart from that, Xiaomi’s Redmi 11 Prime is the ideal budget-friendly combination of price and performance.
