Battlefield 2042 Season 3: What We Know So far

Battlefield 2042 will soon be available on EA Play and Xbox Game Pass Ultimate. EA announced in a development update blog post that, beginning with Battlefield 2042 Season 3. The multiplayer shooter would be included in its own subscription service. It is also bundled with Xbox’s premium gaming subscription plan.

The publisher has not announced a release date for the second chapter. But aims to entice players who have shied away from the game since its problematic launch in late YEAR. EA has scheduled free access periods in December for all major platforms, including PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series S/X.

The statement states: “We’re proud of the work we’ve done over the past year, so if you haven’t joined us yet, starting in Season 3 we’ll be adding Battlefield 2042 to Xbox Game Pass Ultimate and making the game available to EA Play members.”

With Battlefield 2042 Season 3, developer DICE will restore Classes, equipping Specialists with a unique set of gadgets. These gadgets are tailored to specific conditions on the battlefield. Similar to previous installments in the series. Classes are divided into four types: Assault players carry a med pen, Engineers have a repair tool, Recon players carry an insertion beacon, and Support players have a defibrillator on hand for speedy revives. This will be implemented as part of Update 3.2, expected for early 2023. this update corresponds to the later half of to Battlefield 2042 Season 3 multiplayer component.

EA has also confirmed a free trial period across all platforms for individuals who do not wish to sign up for EA Play or Game Pass Ultimate in an effort to increase the player base for Battlefield 2042. Due to the multitude of bugs, graphics difficulties, and underutilization of map parts, both fans and critics reacted adversely to the game’s release. EA reduced development costs for several iconic elements, such as destructible environments and a campaign part, while neglecting to eliminate bugs prior to release.

Xbox One, Xbox Series S/X: From December 1 at 1:30pm IST/12:01am PT till December 5 at 1:29pm IST/12:59am PT

EA also aims to launch a new Specialist, along with a new battle pass, events, modifications to the Battlefield Portal, and a number of quality-of-life enhancements. In season 3, the maps “Manifest” and “Breakaway” will also be updated, with the latter receiving a “major overhaul.”

In September, EA formed Ridgeline Games, a new Battlefield-dedicated team that will focus on crafting a proper campaign experience. The component has been lacking in recent entries, but will receive a positive overhaul under the guidance of Halo co-creator Marcus Lehto, who will oversee a new team of industry experts based in Seattle. A few weeks following the release of Battlefield 2042, the publisher announced that they will be reorganizing their management and forming a new campaign-focused team. Vince Zampella, CEO of Respawn Entertainment — known for Titanfall and Apex Legends — was put in control of the franchise at the time, with the goal of creating a “connected Battlefield universe” that explored new experiences and narratives.

Battlefield 2042 Season 3 does not yet have a release date, but once it does, it will be available on EA Play and Xbox Game Pass Ultimate.
